There are rock climbers that have enjoyed the sport for years but are now looking for more of a challenge. They may enjoy the actually climb but yearn for some sort of competition. For these climbers, there is sport climbing. Sport climbing is a great deal like rock climbing, however in addition to beating your own records and past accomplishments, you are now racing against another climber. I know what you are thinking. Rock climbing can be a very dangerous sport, why would you want to add further danger by racing? The answer is, sport climbing utilizes more safety precautions, and slightly different equipment than regular rock climbing. The best example of this: in regular climbing, the climber attaches anchors to the rock as they climb - in sport climbing there are permanent anchors attached to the rock face.
Many other protections exist is sport climbing that may not be present during rock climbing, however it also utilizes some of the same safety precautions. The similar precautions include climbing shoes, a helmet, belay and harness. The different equipment includes a different type of rope, and a quickdraw.
Every rock climber knows that they should have a helmet. This will keep them safe if they suffer a fall and will help if they lose their grip on the wall and swing away, and then back towards it. This is especially important when you are racing up a wall as you are more prone to slipping. A chalk bag is a great protection from this. This is a bag kept in the climbers hand to keep them dry and not slippery. Climbing shoes also help by providing more traction for the climber and giving them more strength to grip footholds. They may also have runners to hold equipment during their climb. Possibly the most important safety gear during climbing is the harness. These can come in a few varieties, the basic sit harness the most popular (others include a chest and full body harness). The harness is a belt with loops for the legs to go through. It attaches to the belay and the quickdraw (which I will explain in a moment) and keeps the climber secured to the wall. It also allows the climber to rest by sitting back in the harness and just sort of hanging in place.
In regular climbing a static rope is used to propel the climber. Sport climbing utilizes what is known as a dynamic rope. This type of rope is more stretchable and therefore can handle more stress from the climber. The rope then attaches to a belay device which is a mechanical break for the rope. It allows the rope to be locked off with very little effort. You will also find a quickdraw in sport climbing. A quickdraw is a sling with two carabiners connected by a loop of webbing (which is usually less that a foot in length). It attaches to the bolt anchors and protects the climber on their journey up.
Whether you choose to stick with regular rock climbing, or move on to sport climbing, a great time is almost guaranteed!

Composition of Professional Sport Photography
It's so easy to hold the shutter button down and catch frame after frame of professional sport action. Before you go shutter crazy, its important to recognize what is worth capturing and from where can you get the best shot.
While multiple frame sequences can be a good way of capturing the action, you will often end up with wasteful pictures on your camera. The high end DSLR cameras can capture more than 10 frames per second but it's really the skills of a professional athlete photographer that count.
Different techniques can be learnt and used in commercial advertising sport photography. Mostly, these vary according to your taste in photos, comfort level with sports photography and the professional sport you are shooting. Try to experiment with different techniques during a commercial athlete photography shoot to cover the action from all angles.
You should always bear in mind that learning sports photography is all about telling a story about a basketball game, a triathlon, a National Basketball League game or a bodybuilding event. The best way to capture the action is to shoot from different perspectives.
1. The FACE is the primary source of all emotion and this is what makes a picture talk to the viewers. For a perfect commercial advertising athlete photography shot, be aware of the player's locations. For example, in basketball, you can only shoot people taking jump shots from the side line. If you can't see the face of a professional athlete, it's best not to take the shot. Positioning yourself in different locations during the game is very important part of sports photography.
2. In certain sports like triathlons, it may not be easy to take professional sport pictures. The easy solution is to use a fill flash. For commercial advertising sports photography, adequate lighting and a camera with long lens will come in handy. To catch a really good shot, you will need some sort of advanced equipment and good locations. With practice, you can be successful at all sorts of commercial athlete photography.
3. Another point to be considered is the SHAPE of your subject. If they are taller than they are wide, hold the camera vertically to fill the frame with a professional athlete in action. A tight head shot also fits better vertically. Mostly, professional sport photographs are shot in vertical form.
4. Commercial advertising sport photography involves both INDIVIDUAL and GROUP shots. Hold the camera vertically to highlight an individual. This is a common technique of sport photography in basketball, National Basketball League, bodybuilding, triathlon and other individual sports. When you want to capture the conflict in a game, shoot horizontally.
5. EMOTION forms an essential part of professional sport photography. Shots that have emotion are likely to become priceless frames. A good commercial athlete photography shot will have the energy and story telling ability that brings a photo to life. Whether it is small league basketball players or National Basketball League players, they all show emotion at varying points of the game. Commercial advertising sport photography requires a lot of shooting time and effort in editing pictures that lack emotion. Instead of focusing only on the professional athletes, take time to shoot the crowd, coaches, fans and officials.

What is the Best Dual Sport Motorcycle?
I recently received an email asking me which is the best dual sport motorcycle. As we all know, there is no answer to that question. The question is "which is the best dual sport motorcycle for me?" That question is a lot easier to answer. My reply was "What are you going to do with your it?" My experience is with true dual sport motorcycles rather than big adventure motorcycles so I will frame my answer around my experience.
Some people like the look. If you like the look and will never take the bike off road, the Kawasaki KLR 650 is the way to go. It has been around in some form for over 20 years. There is a great aftermarket network and an unlimited number of forums devoted to the KLR. It has traveled around the world and is bullet-proof. It is also the most comfortable of the big dual sport motorcycles. With comfort comes weight and it is not a bike you want to drop on a muddy hill in the middle of nowhere. The newest version has become more comfortable and more of a load when the going gets tough. The KLR is the best dual sport motorcycle if you want to ride long distances in comfort.
The middle of the road dual choice is the Suzuki DR 650. As anyone who has spent time on my web site knows, I own and love a DR 650. This bike has also been around mostly unchanged for over 20 years. It is probably the most compromised of the big 3 dual sport motorcycles. It is not overly comfortable on long rides and it is too heavy for tight trails. It is, however, the best dual sport motorcycle to take long rides in the woods. It is also a competent long distance ride. If you want to do a little bit of everything, this is the bike for you.
Next comes the Honda XL/XR 650. This is another bike with longevity on it's side. It is designed to be a dirt bike that you can ride on the street to get to the woods. I think it is most true to the roots of dual sport motorcycles. My first true street/dirt motorcycle was a Yamaha DT 250 which grew directly from the MX 250. It was a bike that you could take on the street when you needed to get to the woods. The Honda will beat you up getting to the woods, but reward you once you get there. The Honda is the best choice for riding off road.
We now live in a motorcycle world with choices we have never had before. For $5000 you can buy a new bike that will take you anywhere in the world. The biggest decision you have to make is the level of comfort you want in getting there. That is how you find the best dual sport motorcycle.

Dual Sport Motorcycle Riding, an Introduction to Off-Road Riding!
Or Adventure Riding Starts When The Blacktop Stops...Four powerful requirements for riding off-road:
What skills are required to have an enjoyable and safe ride?
What features are required on the motorcycle?
What you need to protect on the bike and yourself?
How to ride to suit the condition of the road or track?
By off-road I mean a public, dirt / gravel / sand / dust road, path or track. Motocross (MX) riding isn't addressed with any detail in this article but there the comparison has some relevance.
To safely undertake these types of roads there are four areas to consider i.e. The motorcycle itself, your skill level, your protective apparel and the condition of the road or track.
Concentrating on the dual sport motorcycle for a bit, one commonly demands a dual sport motorcycle that provides torque at low revolutions per minute* (between 3000 and 6000 rpm), and a gearbox that offers a lower first gear and a maximum speed of less than 180kph. As well higher, harder suspension, sensible off-road tyres, broad upright handlebars.
Generally these types of dual sport motorcycles are called enduro or trail with Motocross (MX) bikes being the most extreme cases.
Normally tyres are run a little softer than on the road. A good general pressure level is 1.1 bar (15psi) for the front with the back being slightly harder (increase tyre pressure above 2 bar when going over really rough terrain in order to protect your rims and avoid punctures).
If you plan to ride more ambitious tracks your dual sport motorcycle should have wheel rims with spokes and heavy duty tubes which are able to withstand objects like sticks and rocks.
Inner tubes ought to be replaced every 20,000km even when they've never had a puncture. This is because the area around the valve deteriorates and ultimately tears inducing a puncture that can become irreparable. Water that seeps in past the spokes too causes harm to both the rims, spokes and tube. Ideally your rims should dry before you park your dual sport motorcycle.
The susceptible parts of your motorcycle ought to be protected by engine guards, crash bars, bash plates etc. front and back. This particularly goes for to the larger, dual sport boxer BMW GS series motorcycles where the tappet covers protrude from the side and are particularly susceptible to damage. Particular gear e.g. headlamps, brakes, indicators, radiator, hydraulic brake cylinder etc. should as well be protected.
Whenever you're travelling off-road your baggage must be carried low down to maintain a low centre of gravity. Carrying gear on the pillion seat can cause your dual sport motorcycle to become unstable.
You will not even notice the problem as you depart town on the bitumen. Afterwards as you arrive at the rough stuff, it will be too late!
Protective Riding Gear - All The Gear All The Time (ATGATT) is essential to safe dual sport motorcycle riding!
Accidental injury can be prevented by wearing appropriate protective gear. Helmet, eye and hand protection are evident but do not ignore the following.
Riding boots that offer solid ankle joint support (sport shoes, sneakers, tennis shoes are definitely not suitable).
Long trousers that are rip resistant (blue jeans, dungarees are not appropriate!).
Knee joint protection. This can be built into the construction of the trousers or worn separately and externally over the knee joint.
Thigh protection. Usually built into the long trousers.
Jacket that offers elbow and shoulder protection.
Riding off-road in very hot areas and at low speeds can be very arduous exercise. This ought to be borne in mind when buying a jacket. For the same reasons one would wear a 3/4 helmet with goggles when riding off-road at speeds of lower than 100kph.
Now the only thing missing is a way gaining the appropriate skills and practice required to make your Adventure riding a pleasurable event.

Enhancing Yourself With Sport and Fitness Supplements
If one has to consider the sport and fitness supplements as they pertain to golf, for instance, one will realize that the golfer often needs an extra amount of strength to accomplish those long distance drives down the fairway. By executing a longer drive the chances of reducing the amount of shots per hole increases, which in turn will add to your overall game. On the lighter side, it is doubtful that there are sport and fitness supplements to improve upon your accuracy though.
Whey protein powders, as well as the liquid form, creatines and the nitric oxide sport and fitness supplements are ideal in increasing your strength and endurance for the above mentioned purposes, and are obviously not limited to the sport of golf, but can be applied across all sports. This is without the fear of reprisal in terms of using illegal performance enhancers, as these sport and fitness supplements are all natural, or naturally occurring substances which are easily accessible and widely accepted in modern day sporting environments.
Ideally in the event of wanting to enhance or improve your fitness, strength or endurance capabilities, the use of such sport and fitness supplements should be in conjunction with a exercise and workout routine. This will ensure that you maximise your efforts of improving upon the mentioned skills. Unfortunately, and contradictory to many claims, there does not exist a magic formula that will promote strength, fitness and endurance without the accompanying physical effort that is required.
Dependent upon which sport and fitness supplements you have chosen to use in enhancing your abilities, the intake would be dictated by the specific type and frequency of your exercise programs. Most of these supplementation products are designed to accompany a well balanced diet, and are normally recommended to be taken both before and after your gym or training session. This is due to the fact that some of the supplementation products provide addition energy for the physical efforts, which lead to more endurance during the training and therefore add to the increase of strength. Hence by consuming the product prior to working out you body will benefit from the added energy, as well as providing the muscles with added nutrients to increase your abilities during training. Many protein products should be taken afterwards too, as they mostly have a repair effect on the muscles that were exerted during training.
The benefits of the mentioned sport and fitness supplements actually extend beyond sporting and fitness issues, as many of these are utilized within the medical field too. Protein is a known supplement that is often providing to starving people, due to the quick digestion or ingestion as the case may be, whilst the use of several sport and fitness supplements are further used in the treatment of a variety of conditions.

Having the Edge Means Having the Right Sport Fishing Boat
Sport fishing for some anglers means a hard days work and part of that work is having the right boat and that means a sport fishing charter, this is a boat that might not be used to fish from but is in the background for when the days fishing is over. This also means if extra fuel or supplies are needed to go the extra ten miles during a tournament the team has it.
The sport fishing charter is a boat filled with all the luxuries of home and without any of the work; there is a professional crew and a chef, which all equals no work for the sport fishing team. This is where at the end of the day during a tournament there is a expertly prepared meal, there is a lounge to relax and there are staterooms that are spacious and comfortable. The sport fishing charter is also the place where the team can discuss how the tournament is going and plan what they need to do during the next day's event. The team can do this in the lounge with comfortable seating, on the deck in the fresh salt air, and then go to their staterooms for a relaxing nights sleep. This means they are fresh in the morning and ready for the day of hard fishing.
The difference is clear to see what teams have a sport fishing charter and the ones that do not during the tournament, because the team with the comfort of a yacht are relaxed, well rested and well fed. The team that does not have one are crowded into the fishing boat the entire time, they are doing all of the work of manning the boat, meals and fishing their hardest and when it is time to sleep are in a space that has little comfort. This is a team that also has to depend the fish are biting where their fuel will take them, they do not have the advantage of extra fuel out on the water during the tournament time. These factors do not add up to having a winning edge.
The sport fishing charter also means if a piece of fishing equipment is damaged or broken it can either be fixed or replaced from the yacht. This alone can mean winning or losing a tournament and the whole point of the team entering the tournament is to bring in the winning fish.
Looking at the difference it is clear to see that having the right boat can be the winning edge in these hard fought sport fishing tournaments. The winning team is most often the one that has the sport fishing charter, where they can relax, where there is no worry on the water about extra fuel and where strategy can be discussed in comfort. This is also the team that is well rested and ready to fish every day of the tournament, because they had the advantage of a comfortable and spacious place to relax after a hard day of fishing.

There are several agencies that conduct chartered fishing expeditions to Alaska sport fishing destinations. The price of the package depends on the popularity of the agency and the facilities in the package. Normally, the higher the popularity and the better the facilities of the package, the greater will be the price. But it is not wise to look for the cheapest company. You will end up with traveling in a substandard boat with no help whatsoever in your fishing trips.
If one is inexperienced in fishing, one should better opt for a fishing package in which there will be an experienced guide. Family Fun While Sport Fishing
Fishing is a fun-filled recreational activity. It is popular in all over the world, except perhaps for West Asia, where lakes are comparatively fewer. But the popularity of the sport in the United States and Canada is unmatchable in anywhere in the world. The facts that the United States hosts a large number of large lakes, and that almost all the lakes contain a variety of fish species probably boosted the popularity of the game. Previously fishing was a mans sports. But with more women participating in the activity, the label of mans sport is slowly fading. Nowadays, more and more families are taking what is called fishing vacations. In such trips, the whole family embarks a trip to a large lake and engages in fishing games. An increasing number of people are having family fun while sport fishing.
A majority of the big lakes where fishing takes place are tourist attractions by their own right. Most of these tourist centers offer facilities for swimming, trekking, sightseeing, and boating. So the idea of family fun while sport fishing is a good one because it offers each member of the family to engage in some sort of cheerful activity. The grown-ups in the family can go and have fun in fishing. The younger ones can engage in trekking, swimming, or some sort of adventurous activity. The surroundings of these lakes are often picturesque and lush green. This provides an excellent photo-taking opportunity.
Family fun while sport fishing trips can be very cost-effective too. If you opt for touring a number of famous places, the cost of traveling and accommodation will eat substantially into your budget. But when you go for fishing sport holidays, normally the rate of accommodation is low compared with that of other famous tourist locations. Also, the family can spend the time in a particular place for the whole length of the tour. So, travel costs can be saved.
There are several companies that organize family fishing trips. Most of such companies claim to provide a high quotient of family fun while sport fishing. Before you select a fishing holiday package of a particular company, check all the available options you have. One should not rush into selecting a particular tour package. Factors such as the credentials of the company, the convenience of the tour program it offers, and the rate of the program should be taken into account before making the final decision.
It is also better to conduct a research about fishing locations. It is particularly necessary if your family has members who may not be as interested in fishing as you are. In such cases, select a destination that provides a number of other tourist attractions also. A fishing location near to a hill station or a beach is an excellent choice to get family fun while sport fishing.

Pacific Sport Fishing - Ocean Fishing
It's always a good day for fishing in the Pacific Ocean! And a good day for fishing is a good day for many more than just those at the thick end of the poles!
From Alaska to Australia, Pacific sport fishing is a dynamic, exciting, bountiful industry. Just in America alone, there are 40 million anglers, according to statistics from the American Sportfishing Association. The impact of this industry puts it at about 47th place among all US corporations, with over $45 billion in retail sales. The Pacific Sport Fishing arm of this industry stretches wherever a boat can maneuver along the open waters and shorelines of this great body of water.
Countless hours of angling are satisfying the hunger of millions of sport fishermen and women. They are after the really big ones...the Marlin, averaging 150kg - 200kg in the southern waters, to the rowdy King Salmon in the northeastern waters off Alaska. Famous fighters bring excitement to every tug on the line. Yellowfin tuna, Striped, Black or Blue Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Shark and Snapper. Northern waters pulsate with Salmon, Halibut, and the feisty Steelhead. In southern waters, the catch for Tuna runs from 30kg - 59kg, and the average Marlin weighs in the 150kg - 200kg range.
Just as the anglers are packing up their gear for long days in the sun, those who serve the anglers are ready for action. Charter boats, live-on experience expeditions, yachts, and a myriad of supporting retail outlets are bursting with action as their coffers fill up with the sport fishing industry's monetary contribution of over $125 billion plus (figures for US only!). Sport fishing charters cost about $400 to $2000 per day. Fishing license fees contribute to keeping this sporting industry thriving, with fish hatcheries, restocking efforts, and water preservation and conservation. Camera and film go right along with the tackle boxes, to capture that magic moment with fish and fisherman (or two or three fishermen holding those really big ones). And, over a million people are employed in this industry in the US alone. Multiply those figures for the rest of the Pacific coast countries and you can imagine the overall importance of sport fishing to all!
Add the benefits to the tourism industry and you can see the widespread impact of Pacific Sport Fishing. Ringing all around the Pacific, west to Hawaii, and south to Costa Rica and Mexico, and South America, sport fishermen are taking on the big ones in more ways than fish.
Accommodations run from rustic to deluxe in locations from Hawaii to Nicaragua, and on boats that are no longed call boats, they are ships. Yachts to cruisers, from boats that look to be right out of the movie "The African Queen", to ships large enough to even carry more yachts on board for special charter fishing trips, there is an accommodating place for every angler to settle down and enjoy their sport fishing experience. It's always a good day sport fishing in the Pacific!

This seems unbelievable, since until now, all we have had to use for step counting are unreliable pedometers. The Nike+ iPod Sport Kit has revolutionized the workout routine. Music is a great motivator in your workout. iTunes has done a great job making your favorite tunes available to download into your iPod. But now, you can build a library of songs AND accumulate the details of your actual runs over a period of time...all with your iPod!
Nike apparel is now available that allows you to insert your iPod into little built-in sleeves fit just for the iPod nano. For now, the nano is the only iPod the sport kit is made for. That's ok though since the sales of the iPod nano have never been stronger. The assumption is that a large majority of people have them and they use them mostly for the purpose of some kind of fitness workout. So, Nike figures you need apparel suited just for this purpose and it's logical you don't want to drop or lose your iPod nano. The apparel pockets for the iPod nano also assist in keeping the unit dry during your workout, thus, reducing the likelihood of damage.
Whatever you decide to do about tracking the details of your exact run, remember that Nike and Apple have "written the book" on the technology for the iPod Sport Kit. More will be available from other competitors, but wouldn't you rather have the real McCoy? NikePlus.com has plenty of information about how to download your results, track and analyze your results, and share your results with communities of runners like you. The Nike+ iPod Sport Kit will last and is here to stay!
Jennifer Clark is a successful webmaster and publisher of The iPod Sport Kit. A website that specializes in the Nike+ iPod Sport Kit and features articles about what is the iPod Sport Kit and what it does, the iPod nano, Nike shoes and apparel, and more!

Fitness and working out will never be the same again. The technology now is remarkable and Nike and Apple have outdone themselves. Even though this system using the Nike + iPod Sport Kit is unique to these companies, more will surely follow. For now, getting to understand the technology will put you miles ahead when other competing products hit the market.
Basically, it's simple. Put the sensor from your sport kit into your modified Nike shoe. Hook up your iPod. Plug in...and go! Your iPod tracks in detail your exact results. It monitors the calories you have burned in your run. It can tell you how far you ran in distance. You can even set your music to run at a tempo in sync with your run!

Globalization and Sport
During the 20th century, sports took on an increasingly international flavor; aside from the world championships for individual sports, like soccer's World Cup, large-scale international meets, such as the Pan-American games and the Commonwealth games, were inaugurated. Sports have correspondingly become increasingly politicized, as shown in the boycott of the 1980 Moscow games by Western nations and the retaliatory boycott of the 1984 Los Angeles games by Soviet-bloc nations, an exchange brought on by Soviet actions in Afghanistan.
Politics directly related with economic issues, influence the course of action one country might choose against another and affect sports as they are a vital part of a nation's role in the global scene. Individual countries during the recent past have boycotted sport events or used them for propaganda reasons and thus, imposed their political views affecting the global scene. Due to the worlds' interest in sport, the power to influence the public becomes a huge issue and has been the reason for many ‘country-battles' in the recent past. At the same time, the commercialism that accompanied spectator sports gradually engulfed both amateur and professional sports. By the late 20th century, the televising of athletic events had made sports big business. On the other hand, expanding public concern with personal physical health led to mass participation, not necessarily competitive, in sports like running, hiking, cycling, martial arts, and gymnastics. Athletic activity by women expanded, especially after political action in the 1960s and 1970s opened doors to many forms of competition and an increased share of public funding for sports.
Economic integration and free trade have and surely will, continue to affect the sports and fitness industry in the future. Countries use sports either to impose their economic power over others, or to elevate their current role. Due to sport's great costs, counties' governments engage themselves in promoting and supporting these economic needs by authorising special public monetary programs or by seeking private financing. Corporate sponsorships are today a reality, as companies spend about $6 billion annually sponsoring activities ranging from the Olympic Games to the World Cup. The popularity of sponsored events is due to several reasons. They enhance the reputation and image of the sponsor, they provide a focal point for marketing efforts and sales campaigns, and they generate publicity and media coverage. More cost-effective than advertising, sponsorships include prestige and at times target a worldwide audience. Broadcasting rights, ticket sales, merchandising, and sponsorships, are the main reasons of sport's unique role in a country's strategy.
Living today in the information age, with amazing revolutions in technology and communication, sport experts believe that sport is greatly influenced by the actions of individual nations, as well as by the international trends that influence the world economy. Moreover, being a spectacle, sport athletes have become professionals that through them their country's culture is promoted and their achievements contribute to the country's fame. Thus, the sport and fitness industries, as part of our Global Society, have become lately an issue of great concern. Studies worldwide provide valuable information about the political, geographical, economic, cultural, social, aesthetic and historical aspects of sports and it is firmly believed that they will continue ‘shaping' one another in the years to come.

Sport Angling in Alaska
For many angles, nothing beats sport angling. If this describes you, sport angling in Alaska is simply something you need to experience at least once, but as often as you can!
Alaska, the United States' 49th state, is home to a variety of different vacation options. Trips to this state can take the form of camping, an Alaskan cruise, or just a sightseeing trip to experience the many different types of wildlife and glacier formations. Another type of vacation can also take place here; a angling trip. While Alaska is known primarily for its salmon angling (for eating), sport angling in Alaska is also a great way to spend some time in “The Last Frontier”.
In order to go sport angling in Alaska, you'll need to obtain a angling license, if you're over 16. This applies to non-residents as well as residents of the state. If you plan to fish for king salmon, you'll need to purchase a king salmon stamp as well – this allows you to fish for king salmon for the year in which it was obtained. Luckily, Alaska has made it easy for you to get your angling license and any other needed paperwork via their state website.
Sport angling in Alaska can take place in any of the three major areas of Alaska – the Southcentral, Interior and Southeast areas. The Southcentral area offers most of the different types of sport angling in Alaska that are available, from Northern Pike angling and ice angling, to Pacific Halibut and tidepool angling. These different types of angling available in just one area make the Southcentral area a great place to take your angling trip.
Also available for your angling enjoyment in this area are stocked lakes in the Kenai Lake area, as well as special recreational angling areas in the Kenai River. One great place to stay while in this area is the Kenai River Sportfishing Lodge. Available at this lodge are such amenities as cabins to stay in and meals included, along with many different types of fish to catch. The Kenai River king salmon can't be beat, but also available here are silver salmon, sockeye salmon, rainbow trout and giant halibut. The Kenai River Sportfishing Lodge even offers special events where they teach women to sport fish, with their Alaskan Fly angling Adventure for Women.
Sport angling in Alaska is a great vacation for those who want to have an adventurous and outdoor trip. A vacation to Alaska is a perfect way to have fun with your established angling hobby, or even to start a new one – all with experienced guides helping you along the way.

Sport
In our modern day society we have moved away from walking anywhere and think nothing of jumping into the car for a quick trip to the corner shop. We live life at such a fast pace that we feel we dont have time to walk anywhere and as a result we are probably the most unfit that we have ever been.
Things are beginning to change as we slowly realise that our own health is in our hands and many people are turning to Sport to help them enjoy becoming healthier.
Sport is a diverse area, which continues to grow. Many countries around the world embrace and claim a Sport as their own, calling it a national Sport. It has become a World Wide industry in which countries compete and stake claims on titles and trophies. There seems to be a Sport that suits everyone and of every age.
There are various types of sport that range from professional to amateur. There are Olympic Standard Sports and sports that are just for fun. There are lone sports such as hurdles, javelin throwing and pool. There are team sports such as basketball, hockey and rugby. There are also sports that can be both, such as tennis, running and swimming.
Sports can be played on many different levels, such as locally, nationally and internationally. Sports can be relaxing, or stressful, depending upon which sport you choose to pursue.
There are so many different types of Sports, that it is sometimes difficult to define exactly what sport is, as for some people, in some countries, yodeling is a competitive sport!

Ford Explorer Sport Trac and Ford Auto Replacement Parts Take You to the Next Level
"With the addition of a number of new competitive offerings, the sport utility truck segment is red hot, and it’s time for the original to raise the bar again for everyone else to try to follow," said Chris Feuell, Ford Motor Company SUV group marketing manager. "This concept magnifies all of the aspects of Sport Trac that customers already love and introduces some street- savvy cues."
The Explorer Sport Trac is the first sport utility vehicle with the versatility of four full doors, a roomy feature-filled interior and a pickup truck’s cargo box. Today’s Explorer Sport Trac is the only vehicle in its segment to offer a durable color-coordinated cargo box and an available swing-over tubular bed extender that dramatically increases its capability to haul oversized cargo. The Explorer Sport Trac concept’s interior is larger and the cargo bed is about 30 percent bigger than today’s model for increased cargo capacity.
Ford’s exclusive Roll Stability Control™ technology features roll-rate sensing and correcting capability, assisting the driver in maintaining vehicle control during extreme maneuvers. If the system detects the possibility of a rollover, within milliseconds, it automatically engages counter measures to help the driver maintain maximum control and further reduce the risk of rollover.
A micro-machined gyroscopic sensor determines the vehicle’s body roll angle and roll rate. This information, along with Ford-developed algorithms embedded in advanced software is used with other vehicle sensors’ inertial information on yaw rate, lateral and longitudinal accelerations to monitor the vehicles roll stability condition approximately 150 times per second.
Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) delivers another performance enhancement on the Explorer Sport Trac concept – the first IRS application for the Sport Trac series. IRS offers significantly better handling over both smooth and rough surfaces. It absorbs bumps in the road and reduces impact harshness, resulting in improved ride quality.
Ford never stops producing top of the line vehicles with utmost customer satisfaction in mind. Increased cargo capacity, Roll Stability Control, Independent Rear Suspension to name a few is one of the many innovations introduced by Ford to make your vehicle the ultimate driving machine.

Dance Sport, Exercise and Health
Dance sport is set to become an Olympic event. Personally I am not in favor of this. Not for a moment would I dispute the fact that dancers have considerable athletic prowess. Nonetheless, I feel that all Olympic events should be decided on technical and verifiable rules and regulations. In my personal opinion no Olympic event should have an aesthetic and therefore subjective element.
That said, I love dance sport. Like millions of other people I avidly watch the TV shows, such as "Dancing with the Stars" and "So You Think You Can Dance" in which it features.
Dance sport views dance as a sporting activity. A man and a woman participate as a couple. There are also team events. Judging is based on technique, use of floor space and artistic interpretation of the music. Originally this dance form developed from competitive International Style. The remit has been widened to include any internationally recognized dance style which is sport orientated.
International Style Dance sport comprises:a Standard Section, a Latin American section,a Ten Dance section consisting of 5 standard and 5 Latin dances, and a Rock 'n' Roll Section.
Dance sport is performed at both professional and amateur levels. Amateur competition levels are designated by the letters ABCDE, E being the lowest with A the highest. Some countries have an international class S. Class C dancers are only allowed to perform dance steps from the syllabus.
Dancers are liable to problems such as stress fractures for example. Ballroom dancers cannot avoid putting great strain on the second metatarsal bone. This is the bone in the middle of the foot next to the big toe. The rise and fall of slower dances such as the foxtrot and waltz puts great strain on this bone.
Putting thins right may involve a cast and rest will almost certainly be necessary. It may be three months or so before competition and flat out dancing is possible.
Training is intense.Often dancers will practice five times a week for hours on end. The emphasis on appearance by some teachers has had dire effects on certain sensitive dancers. There are accounts of girls being told that they are overweight and then losing as much as 42 lbs in weight, developing anorexia with it's attendant hair loss, depression, cessation of periods and sleep disruption. But some of these girls have nonetheless been able to continue dancing and have used this activity as a means of self-expression and escape from depression.
Dance as a means of overcoming physical and mental health problems is well documented. I have heard the story of a man with Scoliosis. This is a condition where the spine is curved and twisted. It leads to the rib cage affecting the heart and lungs. Some of the symptoms of the condition are backache, shortness of breath, digestive and mobility problems. In spite of the pain this man loved dance sport. His wife was also his dancing partner.
Many other dancers did not understand this man's physical problems and were annoyed when he got in their way, bumped into them or when he and his partner tripped and fell. Teachers were also not necessarily understanding and sympathetic. It was very difficult for the man to assume certain positions. Both he and his wife often ended up with sprained ankles and grazed knees. Despite all of these difficulties he found that dancing helped to maintain his posture and reduce his symptoms.
After twenty years this enormously courageous man went to the United States to undergo a treatment new at that time. As a resullt of not being able to take part in dance sport both the man and his wife became extremely depressed. He was made even unhappier by the knowledge that dancing was not only his wife's form of exercise but was also her principal hobby.
Two years after the treatment they were able to start dancing again. Gradually they improved with practice. They even found that some things, such as the promenade steps had become easier due to improved posture and the rotational correction of his spine brought about by the treatment.
After four months of lessons this man and his wife entered their very first Senior Competition and gained 7th place: a tremendous achievement. They now intend to go on dancing as long as they can.
There is also a report written by a woman injured in the Bosnian War. She was wounded in the upper left leg and some nerves were irreparably damaged. She is now unable to tense her left foot, in fact she has no feeling at all in the foot. But she is working very hard and is determined to be a great dancer and find a way around her difficulties.
Those people who are relying on exercise as a protection against heart attack should think again. People have been known to have heart attacks while dancing. Good health and lessening the risk of heart attack and stroke has a second factor: diet. The diet must be balanced - not too much of any one food group. We have all heard this a thousand times. We may understand on one level the essential value of exercise, and diet to good health. Nevertheless, food habits are amongst the most difficult to alter. Perseverance really does bring rewards.
There is no doubt that dance sport is a healthy means of exercise, self-expression and the competitive spirit. Like any form of sport or exercise it is important not to over stress the body. Over stressing the body leads to the exact opposite of what one if trying to achieve.

There is no doubt that dance sport is a healthy means of exercise, self-expression and the competitive spirit. Like any form of sport or exercise it is important not to over stress the body. Over stressing the body leads to the exact opposite of what one if trying to achieve.

The Thrill of Sport Bets
Two things make all sports worthwhile. For the player, it is winning that matters; for the spectator, it is casting sport bets and hoping to take home the loot. But win or loss, it is the thrill in the betting and the anticipation of winning that spices up the next round of bets.
Your Event, Your Thrill
You have the advantage when you sign-up with a gaming site that offers sport bets which you can use for any event - baseball, basketball, boxing, football, college football, horse racing, tennis, and a lot more sports events that will get your adrenalin racing when it's betting time.
But if all that talk about the odds, point spreads, and sports books seem daunting, you can find a sport betting site that will make the experience an easy one with none of the Pythagorean Theorem stuff to scare you away from enjoying those sport bets, free or not.
Part of your game plan then is choosing the right sport betting program to help you make the soundest sports pick for your bets. Admit it, you like to make some money on sports betting.
But before you plunk in money for your bets, assess yourself, how well do you know the sports and the team involved? Knowing the basics will add to the thrill of your selected event because you have the edge over casual bettors. You have the information they don't have.
Simple Betting Guide
If you don't have the time for betting lessons, you'll gain something out of this simple betting formula:
* Try the money line - The favorite team has a negative sign before their number, while the underdogs have a plus sign before theirs. For example: NY Yankees: -130; Tampa Bay Devil Rays: +120.
In this betting system, you are interested in who wins, never mind if you'll win only $100 for a $130 sports bet for the favorite NY Yankees, or the underdog Tampa Bay Devil Rays with $100 and you win $120 (there's more money with the underdog).
* Point spreads - Don't always go for the favorites. You can cheer on your pet teams, but your sport bets will fare better with teams that are not the public favorites. In point spreads, you're after who wins and how much, not who is popular with the crowd.
* Exotic wagers (parlays) - Wagering against the money line or the point spread. Sport bets wins against the money line are not fixed like the parlay against the point spreads. In a parlay against the point spread, the wagers on a five-team parlay win $25 for every $1 if all the five team win. Unless you are a pro, avoid exotic bets.
Whatever your event, try to make money out of your sport bets. Your betting program should be able to give you the confidence without added cost and the system should be easy to operate or navigate. The software should be clean, and not harbor the viruses and worms that can wreck havoc on your computer's system.
Betting is a skill developed through the years of gambling, but the best players are those who know their limits. True, the next round of betting is just as exciting as the first, but still you have to use your judgment. Can you afford another round of sport bets, or are you ready to take the risks?

Get Fit to Play Sport - Don't Play Sport to Get Fit
Sunday League football. Weekend tennis matches. Squash with colleagues after work. A round of golf with a client. Amateur sport is great.... ......but it has its dangers Unfortunately many people have not discovered the exhilarating, intense methods used m any good fitness trainer and so claim that gym work is boring. Instead they would rather kick a ball around the park on a Sunday morning or hit balls over the net with friends of an evening in order to 'get fit'. This is great and I will always, always actively encourage people to engage in recreational or more competitive sport. I am a keen footballer and tennis player myself! However, a word of caution is necessary to try to reduce the vast number of injuries, both minor and major, suffered during or as a result of recreational sport.
Sport is a bit like medication or the US presidency. It's dangerous in the wrong hands. Firstly, only a very small proportion of those who participate, warm up and cool down properly in order to adequately prepare their bodies for the rapid movements and changes of direction which accompany most sports. This results in pulled hamstrings, groin strains, low back pain and any number of other niggles, aches and pains all over the body. You cannot expect a body which is placed in poor posture throughout the working week with very little movement, flexibility or mobility work to perform on the sports field. The muscles are in a tight, shortened state and like a rubber band which has been frozen for a few hours, they are highly susceptible to snapping when pulled apart rapidly during sprints and quick turns.
Those who do get to the gym at other times of the week give themselves a slightly better chance of escaping injury-free but even these guys rarely pay any attention to training the small muscles around the body which provide support and stability during movement. For instance, those involved in racket sports should spend time strengthening the rotator cuff muscles which play a huge part in stabilizing the shoulder during the serving motion of tennis for example. Anyone playing sports involving running, turning and having to stabilize on one leg (most sports...!) should spend time strengthening the smaller glute muscles which work with the main buttock muscles to stabilise the pelvis.
Golf for instance is notorious for low back and hip problems due to the repetitive, one-sided nature of the sport. Again it is made more dangerous as the ladies and gentlemen who play are often there for little more than a social occasion. This means little attention if any to mobilising the joints involves before play or flexibility work afterwards.
I could go on about individual sports but the point is that you should look to take clear, meaningful steps to improving not only your overall fitness but also sport-specific fitness for your chosen activity. Why spend lots of time doing long, slow runs if your sport involves many, short sprints? Different muscle fibres and energy systems are involved and require attention. Also consider that any injury risk is increased further if you are overweight. It's like trying to drive your city-friendly car over rough terrain with an added 1000kg in the boot. - the suspension isn't going to like it!
Remember age attacks us all with the speed and ferocity of a desert vulture so take care of your joints before everyday tasks become a struggle! You are strongly advised to follow the a structured training and nutrition plan to minimise your body fat before embarking on strenuous sports. Not only this, but your risk of heart problems will be much higher if you have high blood pressure due to lack of exercise, poor nutrition, excess body fat and a stressful job. Taking this combination on to the sports field is a big, big risk. Get fit to play sport. Don't play sport to get fit.

Sport and Physical Recreation
Everyone needs to have an exercise routine. Staying healthy depends largely on staying active. A great way to achieve optimal health is to combine sport and physical recreation. Think outside the box and nontraditional activities can be considered sport. This way you'll have all kinds of options to choose from.
Sports such as soccer, baseball, basketball, football, and volleyball are all great activities to participate in. Not only do you get exercise, but you can also form friendships. Encouraging children to partake in games that involve sport and physical recreation is one way to help them stay active and healthy. Recreational sports also teach team work and sportsmanship to children, both of which are valuable tools they'll need later in life. If your child shows an interest in joining a sport at school encourage them to go for it.
Hunting is an activity that you may not think of in terms of a sport, but ask any hunter how much exercise and exertion is involved in tromping through the woods looking for deer. Not to mention if you actually manage to kill the deer and have to drag it out of the woods. So hunting should be on your list of sport and physical recreation activities if you like that sort of thing.
Practice and enter a 5k run. Jogging has long been a favorite outdoor activity. Races are great recreational activities that let joggers put their best foot forward so to speak. A race can be considered a sport because there is a winner; whoever crosses the finish line first! If you enjoy jogging by all means include it in your sport and physical recreation program.
Join a bowling team. Bowling is a fun activity that people of all ages enjoy. If your employer has a bowling team you can combine physical activity and getting to know your co-workers in one place. Kids like bowling also, so setting a day each month to go bowling as a family is a great idea.
Some other activities you might want to consider are:
• Biking: Get your biking shorts on, practice for a while, and then join a bike race. This offers great exercise and a way to see the country side.
• Frisbee: Playing Frisbee with your family, friends, and even your dog is great exercise. They even have Frisbee teams and events now that you might like to get in to.
• Horseshoes: This is another nontraditional sport you might like to try. You could set some pegs up in your backyard and turn this into a neighborhood activity.
As you can see, there are different ways to combine sport and physical activity that are fun and offer great exercise benefits. Now you just have to pick the one's you like best and get to work!

How to Become a Light Sport Aircraft Pilot
In the past being a private airplane pilot was an expensive and painful venture. That is no longer the case, or at least the pain and the costs are reduced a lot. The saver's name is light sport aircraft - the new aviation category introduced by FAA few years ago.
The pilots love fixed wing light sport aircraft because of their affordability, the comfort they offer and the high speed - up to 120knots/138mph allowed. The price of such airplane can beat the price of a new car and certification and education take much less than obtaining a typical private pilot license. Sounds good?
What does it take to obtain the license? The education for becoming a light sport aircraft usually costs between $3,000 and $4,000. It will take you a couple of months or so to finish the course, depending on your availability. Here is what else is required:
1. Age. You can start the training after you are at least 16 and you can apply the test at 17.
2. English. You written and spoken English must be good. You can become a light sport aircraft pilot only in the USA.
3. Medical certification. You can use your USA driver's license to prove that you are in good physical and mental shape.
4. Exams. You need to pass a written and practical exam.
It's not that much, is it? The education includes 15 hours guided and 5 hours solo flight which should be enough for you to pass the exam. It is recommended however that you get few more hours guided flight before starting to fly your light sport aircraft "for real".
What do you need to know when buying a light sport aircraft It's a good idea to get an aircraft that comply with the ASTM International standards for flight safety. Don't worry, most light sport airplanes produced in the USA do comply with these guidelines.
What about the price? Well, if you want to buy new, you'll need to prepare at least 40 thousands USD. That's not much for an airplane, but is still a lot of money for the ordinary person. The cheaper options include buying a second hand light sport aircraft - you can find ones for 20 thousands or less. Alternatively you can join a shares club and buy 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 or 1/6 of an airplane. This means that you can fly regularly giving less than $10,000 for the airplane itself.
There is one more monetary advantage of being a light sport aircraft pilot. If you qualify for the FAA's Light Sport Aircraft Repairman certificate you will be able to perform the annual inspection of your aircraft yourself. That can save you a lot of money and time.
Besides everything said above, you just can't go wrong by obtaining a light sport aircraft pilot license. Even if you decide you want to become a private pilot of a larger aircraft later, all your hours LSA training will be applied to it. So there is really no reason to avoid the easier category first.

Do Our Baseball Heroes Have Feet of Clay
“Do our baseball heroes have feet of clay?”
Ok, we have suspected the sudden rash of home run hitters and stupendous long balls were the result of something fishy. We wanted to believe the home run magic’s time had come. We had a lot of rationalizations to choose from: perhaps it was because major league baseball restructured the baseball, or maybe we blamed poor pitching on the sudden deluge of homers. At the same time, we marveled at the tough physical training ball players went through. We gasped and admired the rippling muscles and electric shots of power from those bulging biceps. Yet, didn’t we all KNOW something was up, and just didn’t want to believe it. Our baseball heroes were cheating and we just refused to see it. Is it because baseball fans are arrogant or just romantic about their sport?
We could readily believe doping in horseracing. We accept boxing will have thrown bouts. Track and field athletes have been long under our suspicion. Yes, we even laughed about the blown up size of some football players. But baseball, our national sport, our hometown pride and joy, had to be above cheating. Sure we know baseball is big business, how can we not when we have experienced the strikes, been blacked out of local TV coverage, and have forked over a few hundred to see a special game at the park. We don’t even shake our heads over the multi-million dollar player contracts. But we never, EVER, wanted to admit the sluggers we so admired cheated their way to glory.
I watched Victor Conte Jr., the founder and chief executive of Balco, last night on 20/20 He, like any other drug pusher has some good sounding excuses for his business. His mantra was if everybody is cheating with steroids, then it’s not really cheating. This is the rationale of child or adolescent who does not have a fully developed moral code of ethics. “Everybody’s doing it,” is a chant every parent across America has heard and probably rejected with regard for unacceptable behavior of their children. We tell them there are serious consequences for bad behavior, and then we make sure we apply those consequences when needed. Shouldn’t we do the same to our baseball stars?
It is in every major league players contract the following clause:
“Paragraph 3 (a), "The player agrees to perform his services hereunder diligently and faithfully, to keep himself in first-class physical condition and to obey the club's training rules, and pledges himself to the American public and to the club to conform to high standards of personal conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship."
Major league uniform player’s contract
Players who have taken steroids, have voided their contract. They should not be paid for past or future services. Yes, I know those are pretty serious consequences. But making a mockery of your sport, and de-valuing its cherished records is a bitter blow to fans of the game.
Critics of the game hated its slowness and long innings of no-score. They say the fans started to come back to the game when the home-run was once again king—coinciding with increasing steroid use of the players. To them I say, the fans can be role models to the players. We want a clean game.
I’m willing to accept small ball: bunts, bloop singles, steals, pitching duels, defensive plays to keep the game pure yet exciting. Sure, I’ll miss those spectacular hits into the far reaches of the park. I won’t miss the dark speculation. When the long hits come, I’m hoping they will be the result of Paragraph 3, not a new performance enhancing designer drug.

Sports Betting - How to Win on Any Sport Event
Sports betting is not an easy task; it has a complicated chemistry behind it that needs to be understood by anyone who wants to take a lead in sports betting. It involves many factors like various formulas, statistics and equations. In order to win a bet on any sport event, good knowledge on that particular sport is very essential element. This knowledge means that's one should be properly aware of the actual statistics of each participant team, complete background of each player or at least key players in the team and also statistics on team coaches. To win sport bets one must have strong understanding and experience of sports betting systems that are applied to each game. Those people can make stronger sport bets than others who love their sport and have enough information about sport on which they are going to bet plus they should be able to apply many statistical figures to the sport betting system of that particular game or sport.
In usual practices strong wagers are made in two common ways in sports betting, mentioned below:
First is "straight up" it is that money line bet which is only based on those odds that are purely determined on the basis of sufficient knowledge and understandings of sport in question.
The second method is "point spread" which is based on the difference of scores between the teams at the closing of game. It requires appropriate knowledge of teams plus it is more risky than other methods.
There are many groups available on Internet which can provide you recommendations on sports like particular league picks and sport picks. You should only purchase these services from those groups who are operating legally and are registered. These groups sometimes also allow people to do sports betting through their organizations and so provide favorable winning opportunities.
